It is not as if I have had a long week but I am happy that it is Friday. My BIL is holding his 2nd annual bonfire get together tomorrow night so I am sure that will be fun and it looks like the nice temperatures of today and yesterday will be replaced by cold so the warmth of the fire will feel good. 🙂
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?
These fun earrings are now listed in the shop, have a good weekend?
A few weeks ago, I took a metal class and I have been slowly practicing my craft and I am very excited. I wish the price of silver would drop a bit but hey, I can’t everything can I?
I was tooling around last night and needed to just do something and was quite inspired by these crafty words of inspiration from Mystele. So, I made some new earrings that are in my shop, of course I love hearing your thoughts.
Simple and Purple
Good morning blogland!!!! Well, I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday. I did make it to the post office yesterday, so those OWOH winners, look for your packages soon…I hope you enjoy them!!!
Speaking of OWOH, I won a prize. For those that don’t know, I never win things. 😉 I was so excited when I received a message from Linda of Uniquely Covered indicating that I had won one of her lovely journals. I was over the moon and then when the journal arrived, I was really over the moon. Her pictures are so lovely so I borrowed them.
The journal is so lovely, I am afraid to write in it. The cover is made of wood and the leather binding is just lovely. The added bonus is there are lots of pages for times when I am feeling verbose. Make sure to check out her Etsy shop as well.
A friend recommended a book to me – Murder by Family by Kent Whitaker. His story has been featured on 48 Hours and on other shows but the depth of his love for Christ and his ability to forgive his own son for such a tragedy is amazing and inspiring. If you haven’t, definitely add it to your reading list.
Finally, many of you probably watched President Obama last night and his speech. I didn’t and I know some of you are gasping right now at this former political science major, but you’ll be okay. 😉 I had received some jewelry making supplies and I was otherwise preoccupied. At any rate, I don’t personally use Twitter and if you recall it took me forever to jump on the Facebook bandwagon, but I found this interesting article on the Washington Post about what many of our Congressional representatives were tweeting during the speech last night. I am interested in hearing your thoughts about this….
I was delighted to see these daffodils working their way through the mulch. I know for sure that spring is on its way despite the topsy-turvy weather that we have had as of late. What signs have you seen that spring is on its way?
Everyone has heard that a picture can tell 1,000 words and when one is trying to convey a message, it is important to get the right picture. I felt that some of my photos needed some redoing so tell me what you think of the before and after of the following:
I tried to catch some morning light that I read is good for picture taking and I tried different angles, so do they tell 1,000 words?
Wow, time does fly even when all things are not fun. I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day and if you were off that you enjoyed your President’s Day. We went to a program at my BIL’s church for V-day and it was actually quite cute and they even crowned a Mr. & Mrs. Valentine complete with crowns, sash and flowers. We then headed out of town to visit my FIL as he turned 91 on Sunday – Praise the Lord!! He is still doing well, eats whatever he wants, smokes and because where they live is so rural, he gets into his pick-up and drives around…..I think he would be devastated if the kids took his driving privileges away but Lord knows that I pray he doesn’t injure himself or someone else while he is out.
I have several packages to mail and don’t foresee an opportunity to make it to the PO until next Monday or Tuesday so I am asking for patience from those waiting on some things from me.
Last week, I had to go to the Endocrinologist in that I have a goiter and after some blood tests, it was determined that I have Hashimoto Thyroiditis, try saying that 5 times fast. Basically my body generates antibodies to attack my thyroid. At this time, my doctor just wants to monitor me and I am cool with that as I was not interested in hormone pills nor surgery but needless to say it was a week of constant prayer as the appointment approached and continued prayer that the condition doesn’t worsen. My blood work also revealed low Vitamin D levels so I have to take extra vitamins for that. I don’t like to take pills of any sort so taking this plus a multivitamin has been interesting to say the least.
I took a great metal class last week at a local bead store. My teacher has her own site and Etsy store, check her out. I am excited about incorporating some new techniques into my work and of course I am still praying for my 1st sale. 😉
Garden planning is underway and I am looking forward to this year being that I am expanding the garden. My neighbors and I were talking about trying to partner up on some things so we can all benefit…kinda like our own CSA.
I thank each of you for reading and sharing in my adventures.
Okay, so it has been great participating in the OWOH gypsy caravan this year. I have *met* some nice people and been exposed to some great art and generosity. I did bend my own rules a smidge in that I did allow in 2 comments that were past 10:00 p.m. EST, but hey, it’s my giveaway and isn’t it all about having one heart. 🙂
Having generated 169 comments, I thought that I would sweeten the pot by choosing 3 winners. The second and third winners will receive a special item handcrafted by me.
So, the winners are (drumroll please) courtesy of Random.Org are:
